How to Set Up Photo Share in Pidgin
Pidgin is a convenient way to bring all of your instant messaging programs together into one application, allowing you to only have one program open rather than several. Pidgin has plug-ins that allow you to video and audio conference. The program also allows you to send pictures and other files to others on your buddy list.

1
Install Pidgin on your computer. If you use Windows or Linux, you can download the most current version from the Pidgin website. Mac OS does not have a version of Pidgin, but try Adium, which is native to Mac.
-
2
Open Pidgin. Add an instant messaging account that supports file transfers and picture sharing, like AIM, Yahoo, MSN or gTalk. Choose the client from the drop down menu and put your handle in the username space. Some require the entire email address in this field, while others only need the nickname. Enter the password in that field and check the box that saves the information. Push the "save" button.

3
Start a conversation with someone in your buddy list. Double click on their nickname in the list.

4
Find your photo with your file explorer, or open the folder that contains the photo. Click on the picture and drag-and-drop it in the frame in your Pidgin window where you type. Pidgin may ask if you want to add the photo as your icon or avatar, or if you want to send it. Select the option to send it. You can also click the "Insert" option just above the frame where you type and click on "Image" or click on the "Conversation" menu at the top of the window and select "Insert Image."

Tips & Warnings
Sometimes the options to insert an image from the "Conversation" menu or the "Insert" menu are greyed out. That does not mean you cannot send an image. The drag-and-drop option still works.
AIM may require you to establish a direct connection with your buddy before you can send them files or images.
