How to Delete Audio in Sony Vegas
Sony Vegas is non-linear video editing software used by both pros and amateurs for Microsoft XP and Vista. Originally published by Sonic Foundry, it is now owned by Sony Creative Software. It is generally considered more user-friendly than the more complex Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier. Once just used for audio editing, there are many ways to manipulate audio files in Sony Vegas, such as tempo and pitch. Deleting audio is a very simple task in Sony Vegas.

1
Open your project in Sony Vegas by selecting "Open" from the File menu; determine which section of audio you would like to delete. You can cut out an entire audio clip or just a portion of an audio clip. Make sure to click the "Ignore Event Grouping" icon in the task bar (or shortcut Control+Shift+U) so that any associated video does not also get deleted.
-
2
Highlight or select the section of audio you wish to delete by pointing your cursor at the audio track and clicking on it in the time line. The track will then become highlighted.
-
-
3
Hit delete on your keyboard and the track will disappear, or you may also right-click on the highlighted track for further options such as audio editing or copying.
-
4
Split the audio track at the points you wish to delete, if you want to delete a section of audio and not a complete audio track. Place the time line marker at point you wish to begin the audio deletion and select "Split" from the "Edit" menu (or shortcut S). Then move the time line maker to the end of the section of audio you wish to delete and again select "Split" from the "Edit" menu or simply hit "S" on the keyboard. Then highlight the audio section and hit "Delete." Again, make sure you have the "Ignore Event Grouping" icon in the task bar selected.
