How to Find the Serial Number for a Windows Program
When you install a Windows program to your computer there is typically a serial number that you need to input to verify that you purchased the program. However, if you need to reinstall a Windows program and cannot locate the serial number there is a way to find it on your computer. You can find the serial number for a Windows program, installed on your computer, by using a utility called Keyfinder Thing.

Download the Keyfinder Thing utility to your system. Save the file to a location such as the Local Disk C.

Extract the Keyfinder Thing utility from the downloaded ZIP file. Double-click the ZIP file to open it and view the contents of the file. Left-click on the KeyfinderThing3.exe file and drag it out of the window.

Double-click the KeyfinderThing3.exe file to open the program. The programs that have a serial number will be listed in the window.

Click the Tools drop down and select the "Search" option to display serial numbers for programs that are not supported by the utility.

Export the serial numbers from the program to a text file. Click the File drop-down menu , highlight the "Export Keys" option and select "Text File." Select a location for the text file by using the "Save in" drop-down menu. Enter a name for the files and click the "Save" button.

Tips & Warnings
Click the View drop down and select "Software List" to see a list of programs that are supported by the utility.
The utility requires that Microsoft .NET Framework be installed for the program to work correctly.
The Keyfinder Thing utility only supports 90 programs.
