How to Use a Canned Duster to Clean Gun Parts
Cleaning your weapon and its various parts is a task that all gun owners must perform routinely after they use their weapons. Gun powder residue, dirt, dust and other debris will accumulate over time and if not properly cleaned can render the functionality of the weapon sub-par. An easy and effective method for removing surface dust and dirt from small gun parts and scope lenses is to use a spray can air duster. These dusters are used for many tasks, normally cleaning dust from electronics, but they can be effectively used in the maintenance of your weapon.
Instructions

1
Shake the air duster for about 10 or 15 seconds. Note that some compressed air dusters advise you to shake longer or less depending on the manufacturer.
-
2
Insert the hollow plastic tube into the hole on the nozzle of the duster. Ensure that the tube is fitted tightly into the hole.

3
Hold the duster about 4 to 6 inches away from the gun parts that you're cleaning. For smaller parts, such as trigger assemblies, gas pistons or firing pin safeties and assemblies, use a vise to secure the part or hold them with a very tight grip to ensure that they won't blow away.

4
Depress the trigger on the nozzle of the air duster. Spray air in short two to three second bursts into the nooks and grooves of the gun parts, along the length and inside the barrel, over the surface of the lens of your scope, or anywhere that you can see visible dirt or debris.

Do not inhale the canned air as this will cause respiratory irritation. Do not spray canned air into the eyes.
Never use a punctured can of compressed air.
Keep compressed air dusters away from heat or flame.
