How to Draw Zoo Animals
Drawing a zoo full of animals is great practice because there are so many different types of animals to choose from. Zoos house animals from jungles, deserts, oceans, plains and mountains around the world. Draw your own exhibit of African zoo animals by creating a scene featuring a giraffe, lion, monkey and elephant.
Things You'll Need
- Piece of paper
- Pencil
- Photo of zoo animals for reference (optional)

1
Draw a giraffe on a piece of paper using a pencil. Make the giraffe's body medium in size and rectangular in shape. Add long graceful legs as well as the animal's signature neck and knobby knees. The neck should be at least twice the length of the body. The face of the giraffe should be long like a horse's with large, expressive eyes. Add spots to the giraffe, using a photograph of one as a reference if necessary.

2
Draw a lion on the paper by outlining the general shape of a big cat--a large oblong, topped by a large circle on one end and an S-shaped tail at the other. Use the pencil to create sturdy legs and paws After you have completed the cat's outline, use the side of the pencil to create wispy shapes around the head for the lion's mane. Use the same effect on the end of the lion's tail.

Add a vine to the top of the page, and sketch in a monkey hanging from it. Monkey outlines should have a small body with long arms and short legs. The monkey's head should be round, and it's hands should resemble those of a human. Shade in the monkey to your liking using the side of the pencil.

4
Create an elephant on the piece of paper by beginning with the head. The ears are large and flat, and the trunk should hang down almost to the ground. Use sharp lines to create the tusks of the elephant, located on either side of the mouth. The body is massive with legs that are the same thickness throughout.

5
Use an eraser to get rid of any stray or uneven lines. Color in if desired.
