How to Make Baby Car Seat Pillow

Babies' little heads need some added support and protection in a car seat, especially when newborns or when transitioning from a baby car seat to a toddler car seat. This is when a car seat pillow comes in handy. Baby car seat pillows are inexpensive and easy to make. Creating one yourself saves money and allows you to customize it for your little one.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out a large piece of tracing paper onto a flat surface. Draw a U-shaped figure approximately 10 inches tall and 15 inches wide. Cut this out; it's your sewing pattern.

    • 2

Choose a fleece fabric print you enjoy. Fleece is best because it's easy to work with and soft. Place the pattern on top of the fabric and trace it twice with a fabric pencil so you have two U-shape figures. Cut out the designs.

    • 3

Put the two pieces of fabric together, right side in so the wrong side of fabric faces outward. Use straight pins to pin in place.

    • 4

Sew the edges on a sewing machine, leaving a quarter of an inch of fabric outside the seam. Leave a small section unsewn. Turn the fabric right side out.

    • 5

Fill the pillow with cotton batting by inserting it through the unsewn hole. Hand stitch the opening closed with needle and thread.
