How to Attach Charms to a Bracelet

Jewelry making is a fun and rewarding craft that many artisans enjoy. You can quickly create beautiful charm bracelets and necklaces with very few supplies. Attaching charms to a bracelet can be accomplished using ordinary needle-nose pliers. The tips of the pliers become a second pair of hands to manipulate jump rings, allowing you to attach the charm.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a jump ring. Using two pairs of needle nose pliers, grasp the jump ring on each side of the jump ring's joining ends. Separate the ends of the ring by twisting one end backward and the other end forward. This is a small twist; it needs to be open only enough to attach other jump rings, chains or charms. Note: You do not want to pull them straight apart or this will distort the shape of the finished ring.

Thread an end of the jump ring through the link on a charm. Grasp the ends of the ring's joining ends with the needle-nose pliers. Twist the ends back together, closing the ring.

Open another jump ring the same way. Thread the jump ring through the closed one on the charm and a link on your chain bracelet. Close the jump ring as before. The charm is attached. Repeat with additional charms.
