How to Wire a Dual Voice Coil Sub
Dual Voice Coil sub-woofers provide the ability to connect to an amplifier in either a series or parallel configuration. The difference in the configurations, and the benefit of using DVC subs, is that you can add multiple sub-woofers while staying withing the acceptable levels of you amplifier. Wiring in series will double the impedance (measured in ohms), while a parallel connection would halve the impedance value. You should consult the owner's manual for your amp to determine which configuration is appropriate. For wiring a single DVC sub, the wiring configuration is simple and will allow you to take advantage of the choice provided by the DVC sub should you choose to later add another sub-woofer.
Instructions

-
1
Disconnect the negative battery cable from your vehicle's battery. The negative cable is black and connects the battery to the frame of the vehicle. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the cable's clamp. Remove the clamp from the negative battery lead post.
-
2
Place the DVC sub in the trunk of your car or rear cargo area of your hatchback or SUV.
-
-
3
Establish a path from the amplifier to the DVC sub-woofer. An ideal location for the amplifier would be in the rear of the vehicle adjacent to the sub. If the amp is located beneath a seat or in any other location of the vehicle, you need to lift the carpeting using a trim panel removal tool, to lay the wiring from the amp to the sub.
-
4
Connect the negative output of the amplifier to the negative input of the DVC sub-woofer, using speaker wire.
-
5
Connect the positive output of the amplifier to the positive input of the DVC sub using speaker wire.
-
6
Replace the carpeting on the floor of the vehicle.
-
7
Place the negative battery cable onto the negative lead post of the battery. Tighten the cable's clamp using a Phillips head screwdriver.

Tips & Warnings
This configuration makes adding a DVC sub by series or parallel circuit easy. You will only need to add wiring, not remove the current connections.
