How to Wear a D Ring Belt

Once part of a standard-issue uniform for the Armed Forces, the D-Ring Belt has found its way into mainstream civilian fashion. Unlike traditional belts, the D-Ring belt does not use a hole-and-peg fastening system. Rather, the long end of the belt threads through the pair of rings on the opposite end such that it becomes firmly "pinched" into place through an ingenious leverage mechanism. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Loop the belt through your pants' belt loops.

    • 2

Adjust the belt so that the centers of the two rings line up with the top button of your pants.

    • 3

Thread the long end of the belt in through the bottom of the bottom ring and out through the top of the top ring.

    • 4

Fold the long end of the belt over the edge of the top ring and thread it down through the top of the bottom ring. For example, if the long end came in from the left, you will fold it back toward the left (and vice versa). As a result, the long end will extend out from the bottom of the bottom ring, lying flush against the belt underneath.

    • 5

Gently pull the long end of the belt through the rings to tighten the belt.

    • 6

To release the belt, hold the bottom ring firmly against your body and then turn the top ring up and away.
