How to Use an iPod Sharing Device

While the only way to share music and playlists between iPods once required third-party software to rip the music from the iPod to a computer, there are now devices that can connect two iPods and enable quick and easy song transfer. iPod sharing devices such as the MiShare and the Belkin RockStar are available at computer retail stores or stores that carry iPod accessories. These devices can even share songs protected by DRM (digital rights management).

    • 3

Connect the receiving iPod to the right side of the MiShare device once the status light is a solid green.

    • 4

Press the middle button on the MiShare once both arrows on the device and the middle button are a solid green.

    • 5

    Share iPods using Belkin RockStar

    • 6

Plug the green cable into the source iPod.

    • 7

Insert headphone jacks into the remaining Rockstar audio ports to allow up to five other users to listen to the music on your iPod. The RockStar has six ports, allowing for any combination of iPods and headphones.

    • 8

Connect an audio cable from the Belkin RockStar audio port to additional iPods to enable mixed playback.

    • 9

Turn on the iPod used as the source, and scroll through the playlist or artist you wish to play and press the middle button to begin playing the song. For the iPod Touch, tap the "Music" button on your screen and tap the "Playlist" or "Artist" button at the bottom of the screen to select the playlist or song for playback.
