How to Crochet a Casserole Carrier
If you can crochet then you can create a wide variety of accessories for your kitchen. You can make everything from dish cloths to hanging towels and pot holders. If you want to crochet a casserole carrier, simply make a crocheted base to go under the casserole dish and then add handles. Crochet your carrier in a sturdy, worsted-weight cotton yarn for best results. This way it will be machine washable and also hold its shape well to support the weight of the casserole dish.

1
Crochet a rectangle to fit the bottom of your casserole dish, with 1/2 inch extra on all sides. This will be the base of your carrier, and you can make it by using single crochet in straight rows until you match the length and width of your casserole dish.

2
Crochet an edging around the dish, making one single crochet stitch in every stitch around the edge of the rectangle you started with. Continue to work evenly in the round until the height of your carrier comes to just beneath the handles or top edge if there aren't any handles.

Crochet the handles. When you get to the end of your final round, slip stitch around until you get to the end stitches on the long side of the casserole carrier. Single crochet in four stitches, then chain one and turn. Single crochet across these four stitches for several rows, until your handle is long enough to reach the other side of the same edge of the carrier, with extra room in the middle for holding. Use slip stitches to attach the handle to the last four stitches on the same side where you started, and weave in your loose ends.

Join the yarn on the opposite side of the carrier and repeat step 3 to make another handle. You should be able to hold both handles centered above the carrier when you are finished.
