How to Repair Chipped Porcelain on Stoves
It is important to repair chipped porcelain on your stove. Besides detracting from the overall appearance of your kitchen, an area that is chipped could very well expand as more paint peels off. Repairing chipped porcelain is relatively simple. In fact, the most difficult part may be getting a good match between the paint and the color of your stove. Things You'll Need
- Cloth
- Dish detergent
- Water
- Epoxy glue
- High-heat paint for appliances or porcelain
- 220-grit sandpaper
- Soft brush
- Epoxy adhesive

Reattaching a Chip

Clean the chipped area with a cloth dipped in a solution of dish detergent and water.

Apply epoxy glue on the back side of the chipped piece of porcelain, using a cotton swab.

Put the chipped piece back in its original position on the stove. Secure it in place for several minutes with your finger.

Apply a high-heat paint for appliances or porcelain over the chipped piece, using a paintbrush or spray can. Let the paint dry according to the label directions before using the stove.
Filling a Chip

Clean the chipped area with a cloth dipped in a solution of dish detergent and water. Allow the area to dry.

Sand down the chipped area with 220-grit sandpaper. Remove the residue from the sanding with a soft brush. Wash the area again, and allow it to dry.

Fill in the chipped area with an epoxy adhesive. You can also use products and paints specifically designed to fill in a chipped area of porcelain.

Allow the adhesive or porcelain to dry for 24 hours.

Apply a porcelain paint over the area with a paint brush or spray can.
