How to Retweet on Twitter

Twitter is a social website that allows its users to communicate with coworkers, family members and friends across the world. Twitter users can update their statuses, known as tweets, to let their followers (friends) know what they are doing. With Twitter, you can also retweet other people's statuses to your followers.

      Log in to your Twitter account.

      Access the tweet that you would like to retweet by going to the user's page that contains the tweet. You can also access the tweet on your Twitter homepage if you are following the Twitter user.

      Copy the entire tweet including the user name by highlighting the tweet by highlighting the tweet, right clicking it and selecting "Copy."

      Paste the tweet by right clicking and selecting paste to paste the tweet into the "What's happening?" box displayed on your homepage. Add "RT" in front of the tweet, and then click "Update." This will retweet the tweet to all of your followers.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may also add your comments to the retweet by simply typing your comments before your type "RT."

  • Also, some users have the option of just clicking the "Retweet" button located under the tweet in which you are trying to retweet. With this option, you cannot add your comments to the tweet. The "Retweet" button is available to only some users in early 2010 because it is in its beta stage.

  • If you do not have a Twitter account, simply go to the Twitter website, and click "Sign Up." You will need a valid email address to sign up.
