How to Crochet a Travel Tissue Holder
Travel tissues are a handy item to keep in your car or bag. If you get a case of the sniffles when you're on the go, you'll always have a tissue ready. However, sometimes your travel tissues can get dirty or damaged if they fall to the bottom of your bag or wind up under the seat of your car. In these situations, it is convenient to have a crocheted cover to protect your travel tissues.
Things You'll Need

1
Measure your travel tissue package. You want to crochet a cover that is approximately 1/2 inch longer than the package and 2.5 times as wide. Once you have your measurements, you will need to crochet a gauge swatch. Make a square using single crochet stitches and the yarn and hook you plan to use for this project. Measure the square to determine how many stitches and how many rows it took you to get two inches of crocheted "fabric." Then use this measurement to determine how many stitches you will need to reach 2.5 times the width of the tissue package, and how many rows you will need to reach 1/2 inch over the length.

Crochet a rectangle that is 2.5 times wider and 1/2 inch longer than your tissue packet. Use single crochet stitches to keep your cover stitches close together; this will prevent any dirt or other objects from getting into your tissues.

Lay the crocheted rectangle out on a flat surface and place the tissue pack in the center. Fold the edges of the rectangle up and over the top of the tissue cover, burrito-style, so that they overlap slightly and fit snugly. Pin them in place and slide the tissue pack out of the folded rectangle.

4
Use a large eye blunt needle and an extra length of your yarn to whipstitch the short ends of your cover closed, stitching through all three layers where they overlap. Cut the extra yarn and weave in the loose ends.

5
Stick the tissue pack back inside the cover, through the gap between the overlapping edges of the rectangle. Keep the opening in your tissue pack facing up, so you can reach your fingers through this gap to pull out a single tissue at a time when needed.

Tips & Warnings
Embellish your tissue cover by embroidering a design onto the back of it using a needle and embroidery thread, or sewing decorative buttons onto this side. Do the embellishing before stitching the rectangle together.
