How to Export Video From a DVR
Moving video off a DVR requires a second component to receive the digital recording, such as a computer or DVD burner. Once exported, the original copy can be deleted from the DVR to free up memory space on the internal hard drive. The connections require standard audio/video cables available at electronics stores. Hooking up the DVR to another component for exporting videos should take less than five minutes.

Tips & Warnings
Use a DVD recorder or a computer with a DVD burner or external hard drive. Transferring videos from the DVR to the computer will simply transfer the storage problem from one device to another. A few hours of digital video can quickly fill up a PC hard drive and slow the computer's performance.
Unplug the DVR and the recording component from the power while hooking up the AV cables.
