How to Upholster a Chair Seat Cushion in a Wooden Rocking Chair

Things You'll Need

• Measuring tape
• Fabric
• Scissors
• Needle
• Thread
• Screwdriver (optional)

Instructions

1. Remove the cushion from the chair. Some chair cushions are attached to the chair with screws; use a screwdriver to remove the cushion if necessary.

2. Measure the length, width and height of the cushion to determine how much fabric you need to cover it.

3. Cut your chosen fabric to size according to your measurements. The fabric should completely cover the front and sides of the cushion.

4. Sew the fabric to the existing cushion using thick thread.

5. Place the cushion back on the chair, and reattach it with screws if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

• Using a stapler to attach fabric to your cushion eliminates the need to sew, although staples can scratch the wood of your rocking chair.
