1
Purchase and gather all of the essential school supplies that are needed for a child entering preschool or kindergarten. The usual supplies include safety scissors, colored construction paper, cheerful stickers, wide-ruled notebook paper, No. 2 pencils, crayons and a backpack for which to carry the items.
-
2
Surprise your child on her first morning of school with their new colorful school supplies. For added enjoyment throw some scratch-n-sniff stickers in with the backpack, which can be a design of your child's favorite cartoon character.

3
Put your child's favorite stuffed animal or a small throw blanket, in with the school supplies. Kindergarten can be stressful for children who are used to being with their families all the time, so having the added comfort can help your child's first day of school be memorable, and stress free.

4
Prepare a healthy but appealing breakfast to send your child out on their first day of school. Chocolate-chip pancakes are often favored by children, and studies show that chocolate improves and enhances visual and cognitive memory. If you're packing your child a boxed lunch, throw in a few chocolate chip cookies to further sweeten your child's day, while improving his brain power.

Take photos of your child's first day of school to make the memory a permanent one. Place some of the photos in a scrapbook of your happiest moments with your child.
