1
Choose relevant photographs, birthday cards, wrapping paper, ribbons, stickers and any other flat collage material for the placemats. It may be advantageous to make copies of prized photographs, since they will be permanently adhered to the placemats.
-
2
Cut out the collage material with scissors. Then, arrange the collage on the placemat. It is important to get an idea of how the collage will look before gluing it down.

3
Glue the collage material to the placemat and let dry. Add glitter, stickers or any other flat, decorative item for extra flair.
-
4
Carefully place the clear self-adhesive paper or film over the top of the placemat. Remove any bubbles by sliding the flat edge of a ruler across the top of the placemat. Next, turn the placemat over and place another piece of self-adhesive paper over the back of the placemat. This will seal the placemat and protect the photographs and mementos from water damage.
-
5
Trim the excess self-adhesive paper around the edges of the placemat.
