How to Make a Mango Milkshake

How to Make a Mango Milkshakethumbnail
Dice fresh mangos to add to milkshakes.

Tropical fruit shakes can be consumed for breakfast, lunch or between meals as snacks. Mangos are high in fiber, beta-carotene, phytochemicals and vitamins. You also get calcium when you add soy or dairy milk. Mango milkshakes can be made with fresh or frozen mangos, or with mango sorbet, products that can be purchased at your local supermarket or health food store.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • 2 mangos
    • 2 cups skim milk
    • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream or yogurt
    • 3 drops vanilla essence
    • 1 tbsp honey
      • 1

Chill the blender jar before making your mango milkshake. Add ice cubes to the jar and press the "crushed ice" setting. Shake and roll the crushed ice in the jar to chill it completely. Dump out the ice and place the jar in the freezer while you prepare the milkshake ingredients.

Dice the mangos. Cut off the mango flesh around the seed, driving the knife as close to the seed as possible. Make cubes by cutting the mango flesh vertically and then horizontally, being careful not to pierce the skin. Press the mango skin up with your thumbs so that the mango pieces separate. Cut the mango pieces off the skin into a bowl.

Alternatively, you can substitute 1 cup of mango sorbet for two mangos.

Take the jar out of the freezer and assemble the blender. Add all ingredients except the milk. Add the honey if you use unsweetened yogurt, or if you want your milkshake to be sweeter than the sweetness provided by the mangos and the ice cream.

      • 4

Place the top on the blender jar and open the pouring hole in the center of the top. Press the "blend" setting and pour in the milk slowly. You may not need to add all the milk if the mango is extra juicy.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Garnish with other tropical fruits for pool parties.

    • Change ice cream flavor to chocolate or strawberry for variation

    • Don't put the seed in the blender - don't laugh it happens!
