How to Fix a USB 2
USB 2.0 is an upgraded version of the popular USB port. A USB 2.0 port provides a faster data transfer, even though it looks completely identical to the older version. If you have just recently installed new USB 2.0 ports on your computer, you may run into an issue of the port not working properly. This is because the upgraded firmware has not yet been installed on the system.

1
Look through the packaging the USB 2.0 installation ports came in. You need the updated firmware, and more than likely it is on a provided CD. However, if no CD is present, you need to download the information from the Internet.
-
2
Launch your Internet browser and make your way to the USB manufacturer's site. Select the "Support" option and select the product you have (more than likely you can type in the product's model number).

3
Click the driver or firmware updates provided on the site, and the information will download to your computer.
-
4
Double-click the downloaded information. It is either on the desktop or in a "Downloads" pop-up window. If you have a CD, insert the CD. In a few moments, the driver installation wizard will launch. Follow the brief prompts, leaving all the information at a default setting, and click "Install." The driver installation will begin. Once finished, connect a device to your USB 2.0 ports and the content can now be read.
