How to Disable Google's Global Phone Tracking System

Google's Latitude is an innovative application introduced in 2009 that allows users to track each other on a map using GPS. It's great for keeping track of your friends, employees or family members, and best of all, it's free to use. However, there may be times when you don't want someone to know where you are. If so, there is a way to disable Google's global phone tracking system.

Things You'll Need

• Google Mobile Maps
• Web enabled phone
• Computer on the Internet

Instructions

1. Go to the Latitude site of google.com (see References).

2. Find the application in Google Latitude that you want to disable. You can choose between Google Location History, Google History Alerts, Google Public Location Badge and Google Talk Location.

3. Click on the application that you want to disable, and scroll down to "Settings," click on the "Disable" button and click "OK." When you wish to re-enable the application, click on "Enable."
