How to Tell If Your XBox Has a Jasper Chipset

The Xbox 360, released several years ago, has long had issues with what has colloquially become known as the "Red Ring of Death." This refers to the red ring that often appears on the Xbox 360 power button when the console is turned on. This ring denotes damage to the Xbox 360, and it frequently has been caused by overheating of the console. Microsoft's new Jasper chipset aims to correct this issue, as well as to reduce the power consumption and noise level of the Xbox 360. This chipset was released in late 2008.

Look under the bar code for a rating for the power consumption of the Xbox 360. If your Xbox's power consumption is listed as 12v---12.1A;5V---1A, then your console has a Jasper chipset. If not, then your console has an older chipset.
