How to Give Recognition to Others
Recognizing others for the contributions they bring into a company or organization is essential to encouraging more productivity and a better work ethic in the workplace. Moreover, an exceptional work ethic leads to positive results and a coherent team building organization. Appreciation is a fundamental need that cannot be ignored. Employees respond better to recognition because it confirms that their work is valued, and that their contributions are not overlooked. Work satisfaction and loyalty rise when employees and other business partners are appreciated for their work. Recognizing employee contributions can influence overall organization productivity when employees become motivated to improve their quality of work.

1
Take time out to individually thank employees for their contributions and added value to the company or organization. This may seem like an obvious step, but it is a quite important one in order to influence the proper work ethic and instill self-esteem/confidence in employees. Recognizing strengths over weaknesses encourages more productivity in workers.

2
Promote employee sense of belonging. Recognize individuals for their contributions, no matter how small or large. Compliment good work behavior, especially in the presence of other employees so that you influence, motivate and encourage others to maximize their work capabilities to the fullest.

3
Praise others by explaining how their accomplishments, contributions and characteristics make you feel. Promote their continual positive work behavior by specifically stating what they accomplished and why it matters. Be very specific about their work value to not only reinforce that desired behavior, but to take it to the next level.

4
Recognize others for their accomplishments and contributions through an honorable presentation. Congratulate others for the major part they play in an organization and award them trophies, certificates, ribbons, plaques or monetary gifts. According to the "Cutting Edge PR," in a 1998 survey of U,S. and Canadian award recipients, it was found that the idea of recognizing others by honoring their accomplishments positively impacted the overall employee perception of their company or organization as a whole.
