How to Change a Cruiser Bike Tire
In the world of biking, there are those who take on the roads in sleek, streamlined mile-eating machines and those who dare the mountains on sturdy, suspended mountain bikes. Then there's the breed that simply looks for a cool breeze and a beach buzz on a fat-tired cruiser. But even the most laid-back cruiser bike rider should know what to do if your cruiser tire needs to be changed.
Instructions
-
-
1
Get together the essential tools, typically a couple of adjustable wrenches.
-
2
Tip the bike over so that it is resting on its handlebars and the seat and the tires are clear of the ground.
-
-
3
Use your wrenches to loosen the axle nuts, putting one wrench on the right-hand nut, the other on the left-hand nut. Typically for cruiser bikes, the axle nuts should be turned counter-clockwise.
-
4
Pull the tire free of the fork.
-
5
Fix the tire. This may involve pulling out the tube and replacing with a new tube.
-
6
Place the tire back between the forks, the axle rod running between the prongs on the ends of the forks.
-
7
Using the adjustable wrenches, tighten the axle nuts evenly so that the tire rests evenly between the forks.
