How to Make a Coke Can Airplane
One of the nice aspects of making a soda-can airplane is that you decide the shape of the wings, tail and propeller. Every Coke-can airplane you make is going to have your personal touch, and each will be unique.
Things You'll Need
- Three empty Coca-Cola/soda cans
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Permanent marker
- Craft knife
- Work gloves
- Hammer
- Nail
- Block of wood

1
Puncture one of the empty soda cans with your scissors, making the hole a fraction of an inch from the top. Carefully snip around the circumference of the top of the can, cutting the top off. Discard the top.
-
2
Puncture a hole in the second can, 2 1/2 inches from the bottom. Cut around the perimeter of the can, using this hole to make your first cuts, until you remove the bottom of the can. Save the can bottom.

3
Snip the top and bottom of the third can of soda. Cut its body open so that the aluminum lies flat, like a sheet.
-
4
Sketch two airplane wings on the flat sheet of aluminum. Make sure they have identical dimensions. Sketch a propeller.
-
5
Cut these pieces out carefully with scissors. Take the first can of Coke and make slits going down both sides of its body. Slide a wing into one slit and glue into place. Repeat on the other side.
-
6
Slice a horizontal slit across the bottom of this can. Draw an airplane tail on the remaining flat aluminum and cut it out, sliding it into this horizontal slit. Adhere it with glue.
-
7
Puncture a hole in the middle of the can bottom you cut off earlier and set aside. Do this by using a hammer, nail and block of wood.
-
8
Make a hole in the propeller. Attach the propeller to the hole in the can bottom with a screw and nut. Make it secure but not too tight as you want the propeller to spin.
-
9
Slide the can with the propeller attached to the front of the can that has the wings. Position them and check for crookedness, then glue into place.
