How to Troubleshoot a Uniden Powermax
Uniden PowerMax cordless telephones are land-line phones for your home. The cordless phones work well under most conditions, but may occasionally experience problems. Common issues with the phone are low or distorted audio, the inability to make or receive calls and failure of the handset to ring on incoming calls. You can troubleshoot your phone to fix common problems with the device and return it to normal working order.
Instructions
-
Low or Distorted Audio
-
1
Press the "CH" button on the bottom of the phone handset to switch to a different channel. Other devices may interfere with the channel set on the phone. Changing the channel should eliminate the interference.
-
2
Bring the phone handset closer to the base. If you move the handset too far away from the base, you might move it out of range.
-
-
3
Move the handset and the base away from metal or other electronic devices. Several different types of objects can interfere with the signal.
Cannot Make or Receive Phone Calls
-
4
Move the phone handset closer to the base to ensure it is not out of range.
-
5
Ensure the AC adapter is fully plugged into an electrical outlet and the other end is securely plugged into the DC jack on the phone base.
-
6
Check the telephone cord connection into the phone base and the telephone cord jack on the wall. If the connection is loose on either end, secure the cord. Also check to see whether there are breaks in the cord and replace it if necessary.
-
7
Change the phone's digital security code by pressing and holding the "Xfer/Del" and "End" buttons for approximately 10 seconds until you hear a tone. Press the "+" button and then the "Ch" button. You will hear a tone, indicating the digital security code is changed. The digital security code connects the phone base to the handset. In the event a nearby phone is using the same code, it may prevent your phone from operating normally.
-
8
Unplug the AC adapter from the electrical outlet and plug it back in after a few minutes. This allows any electrical charge built up in the phone to disperse. The built-up electrical charge may hinder normal phone operation.
Handset Does Not Ring
-
9
Bring the handset closer to the phone base. The handset needs to be close enough to connect.
-
10
Charge the handset for 15 to 20 hours to ensure the battery is properly charged. To charge the handset, sit it on the base.
-
11
Move the base unit away from any other electrical appliances or metal, as it may cause interference with the phone.
