How to Convert Video TS Files to DivX HD

The video ts folder contains all of the video and data files ripped from a DVD. And while the video ts files are viewable, they are generally broken into multiple files--which can make playing the DVDs a bit of a hassle. But using a joiner tool, you can merge your video ts files into one. And with the help of a DivX converter, you can polish the final product, and up-convert it to HD quality.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a copy of the Join VOB Files Tool software (see Resources). Unzip the file and then launch the program--the Join VOB Files Tool doesn't require installation. Click on the option labeled "Add VOB Files"--a file explorer window will appear. Use the file explorer to locate your video ts folder, and then select all of the files in the folder that have a ".VOB" file extension.

    • 2

Give the output file a name. Click on the "Change File Name" button name your file and designate a folder location to store the output file. Click on the "Join VOB Files" button merge the files into one.

    • 3

Download and install the DivX software bundle (see Resources). When you reach the "Choose Components" section of the installation wizard, the "DivX Codec" and "DivX Converter" options are the only necessary options for converting your Video TS files. Launch the DivX Converter after you've completed the installation.

    • 4

Open the folder where the merge .VOB file was stored. Drag and drop the file into the Dixv Converter window. Click on the arrows buttons in the DivX Converter to navigate to the HD options--either "HD 720p" or "HD 1080p." The 720p option will offer a slightly more compact file size while the 1080p option will offer slightly better video quality.

    • 5

Click on the "Convert" button to begin the file conversion. The output file will be stored in the "DivX Movies" folder--located in your "Videos" folder.

Tips & Warnings

  • When adding the .VOB files into the VOB File Joiner Tools, make sure the files are order sequentially in the main menu of the program. Click and drag the individual files to order them.
