How to Use Multiple Ipods With One Computer

If the settings of an iPod are set to automatically sync the device with the iTunes software, you will only be able to use the iPod on one computer. Changing these settings will fix this problem and give you the option of using the iPod on any computer that has iTunes installed on it. Altering these settings on different iPods will also allow you to use as many iPods on the one computer as you wish without the programming erasing the music and videos found on the iPods.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open iTunes.

    • 2

Plug any of the iPods that you want to use with the one computer into a USB port on that computer.

    • 3

Close the dialog box that opens in iTunes by clicking either "No" or the "X" button. If no dialog box opens, you may skip to the next step.

    • 4

Click the name of the iPod you plugged into the computer listed underneath "Devices." Tabs will show up at the top of iTunes.

    • 5

Select the "Summary" tab. Several options will then be listed near the bottom of the center iTunes window.

    • 6

Choose "Manually manage music and videos." This will prevent the iPod from automatically syncing with the iTunes software on your computer.

    • 7

Click "Apply" at the bottom of the program. The iPod settings will be changed.

    • 8

Repeat this process with any other iPods you want to use on the one computer.
