How to Stamp Names on Leather Bible Covers
Leather covers are perfect for protecting the pages of Bibles. Some leather Bible covers even have sleeves that hold paper for notes or bulletins from the church service. Leather Bible covers fit over the original cover of the Bible so it is not bulky or heavy to carry. You can personalize your own Bible cover, whether you bought it or made it yourself, by stamping your name into the leather. You can choose to stamp only your initials into the leather Bible cover or your entire name.

Instructions

1
Remove your leather Bible cover from the Bible. Lay it out on a sturdy, flat surface. Use a marble slab that is specifically for hammering on, if you have one. Otherwise, lay your Bible cover on some surface that can handle great pressure.
-
2
Take a damp rag and rub it all over the leather surface where you plan to stamp your name. Make sure the leather is very damp, but not soaked.
-
-
3
Set your leather letter punches on the leather in the proper order to ensure you have enough room to fit all the letters of your name. Center the leather punches on the Bible cover.
-
4
Remove all of the leather punches except for the one in the middle. Use the middle letter as a guide when adding the rest of your letters.
-
5
Insert the pin into the hole in the leather punch. Hold the leather punch down firmly.
-
6
Hammer the leather letter punch with the rubber mallet three to four times. Lift the leather punch to make sure the letter is clear in the leather. Align the leather punch on the letter and hammer a few more times if necessary.
-
7
Work from the middle outward and add the rest of the letters in your name or initials in the same manner. Dampen the leather a little more using the rag, if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
It is better to hit your leather punch a few times hard the first time, rather than trying to realign the punch on the half-punched leather. Do not be afraid to hit the pin quite hard.
Do not use a wobbly table to hammer the leather punches. This will cause your leather punch to jump around and your letter will not be clear on your leather Bible cover.
