How to Get Real Estate Buyer Leads

Real estate agents continually prospect leads for potential buyers. When looking for buyers, the agent is not just seeking customers who are interested in the agent's listings, but any potential real estate buyer. If the agent does not have a listing that suits a buyer she can show the client other properties, listed by other agents.

Instructions

    • 1

Host an open house at one of your listings. Potential buyers or friends of potential buyers often stop by open houses. Even if the property is not what they are looking for, you can collect their contact information, or the information of their friends who are potential buyers.

    • 2

Offer to host an open house for a fellow agent in your office. In exchange for your time sitting the listing, request the right to retain any buyer leads.

    • 3

Mail farming letters to addresses near your new listings. Neighbors will sometimes have friends or family members interested in buying in their neighborhood. Title and escrow companies often provide mailing addresses for specific tracts (for free) to licensed agents.

    • 4

Attend a local church or synagogue, and become an active member. When people are new to town, one of the first things many do is join a local house of worship. Fellow parishioners will also be potential buyers.

    • 5

Join the local chamber of commerce and leave marketing flyers at the office if it is permissible. Potential real estate buyers typically seek information from the local chamber of commerce.

    • 6

Send out monthly correspondence to your past clients. This might be a newsletter, a brief note or a calendar. Satisfied clients will give you buyer leads, if you continually (subtly) remind them of your existence.

    • 7

Write a real estate blog and offer to send out information on the community, by e-mail or traditional mail. Once you receive a request for the information, you will have a new buyer's lead.
