A toilet paper origami buckle is an attractive way to show your guests that their bathroom has been cleaned.

In addition to enhancing the presentation of your hotel, cruise ship, resort or bed and breakfast bathroom, applying origami techniques to a roll of toilet paper shows your guests that their accommodations have been cleaned and cared for. Toilet paper origami buckles add some understated flair to the appearance of your restrooms, plus they are fairly easy to make.

Instructions

    • 1

Tear the end of the toilet paper roll at a perforation to produce a straight edge.

    • 2

Take one of the corners and fold the sheet of toilet paper at a 45-degree angle. The bottom edge should be lined up with the side of the roll, forming a crisp triangle.

    • 3

Fold the folded portion in half a second time by bringing the bottom point up to the end of the first fold. This should form a smaller triangle that points downward.

    • 4

Unfold everything you have folded up to this point, then fold the toilet paper straight across, intersecting where the last two folds cross.

    • 5

Utilizing the creases from your first folds, tuck the toilet paper in, forming a triangle pointing downwards. This should slightly resemble a coffee filter.

    • 6

Lift the point of the triangle so that it is pointing toward you, then hold the the folded edges at diagonals to each other. Next, pull the edges, flattening the point of the triangle into a square. Alternate between diagonals, then crease into place until your buckle is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • It may be difficult to craft a toilet paper origami buckle with particularly thin toilet paper. If your accommodation's business does not use thick toilet paper, using the buckle design may not be worth your staff's time.

  • Some guests may not be comfortable with the idea of another person's hands having touched their toilet paper as much as is required to form a toilet paper origami buckle. It may be a good idea to use the buckle on the backup roll of toilet paper and the traditional triangular point on the primary roll. No matter what you decide, it is a good idea to keep some unadorned rolls in each bathroom as well to avoid displeasing some of your guests.
