      Purchase a parallel-to-USB adapter cable. One side of the cable has a standard 25-pin parallel connector; the other side has a USB connector that you can connect to any USB port on a desktop or laptop computer. You may have to search around on the Internet for this type of adapter.

      Plug the parallel connector on one cable end into the serial port on the back of your printer.

      Plug the USB end of the cable into any available USB port on your computer.
