How to Email an AT&T Customer at Their Cell Phone

Many large cell phone carriers such as Verizon and AT&T allow customers to send and receive email on their cell phone. You might be able to send an email with a picture attachment, if the AT&T customer has a cell phone capable of receiving picture files. Unlike sending an email to an AT&T customer from your cell phone, sending an email from a computer allows you to send a message free of charge.

Instructions

  1. Emailing an AT&T Customer at Their Cell Phone

    • 1

Log in to your email account. As long as you know the phone number of the AT&T customer, you can send an email message to their cell phone. Compose the message just as you would compose a normal email message.

    • 2

Type the email address for AT&T customers in the "to" box of your email. Emails sent to AT&T customers have the phone number followed by txt.att.net. The email format will look like this: phone number@txt.att.net.

    • 3

Send the message. When you're certain that you've put the correct email address in the "to" box, send your email. The AT&T customer will receive your message in a few moments.

Tips & Warnings

  • When sending picture files or emails to a cell phone, be aware of the size of the message or picture file. Long emails might be broken into separate messages if it contains more than 160 characters.

  • Avoid sending large picture files. The recipient might have trouble opening and viewing a large picture file.
