How to Draw a Line Across a Page in Open Office
OpenOffice.org is an open source and free software suite comprised of word processor, presentation and spreadsheet applications. Writer is the name of the word processing software in OpenOffice.org. Writer provides most of the functionality found in other commercially available word processing applications. Writer has drawing capabilities including lines, simple shapes, text labels, flowcharts and arrows. Use of these drawing functions in your documents will make then appear more robust and professional.

Start the application Writer from the OpenOffice.org software.

Left click on the "Paint Brush" icon in the top tool bar. Holding the cursor over the icon will display the text "Show Draw Functions."

Left click on the icon in the bottom tool bar showing a single black line. Holding the cursor over the icon will display the text "Line."

Position the mouse over the document. Depress and hold the left mouse button.

Drag the mouse to the point where you desire the line to end and release the left button. The line will be created with blue squares at each end of the line.

Press the escape key to exit the line drawing mode and return to text editing mode.

Tips & Warnings
Use the blue squares at the end of a newly drawn line to adjust the length and position of a line.
