How to Make Coleslaw Similar to KFC's Coleslaw

One of the most popular restaurant copycat recipes has to be the KFC coleslaw recipe. This version uses pre-shredded cabbage with carrot already in it to save some time. It also uses sour cream instead of the buttermilk found in most of the recipes online. For a little color, top it off with paprika or use one bag of green grated cabbage and one bag of red grated cabbage.

    Things You'll Need

    • 1 package (14 oz.) shredded cabbage with carrot
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/8 tsp. pepper
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 1/4 cup sour cream
    • 1 1/2 tbsp. white vinegar
    • 2 1/2 tbsp.lemon juice
    • Paprika (optional)
      • 1

Pour the shredded coleslaw mix in a large glass or plastic bowl.

      • 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, salt, pepper, mayonnaise, milk, sour cream, white vinegar and lemon juice.

      • 3

Pour the coleslaw dressing over the coleslaw mix and gently toss the two together. The coleslaw will seem too dry at this point, but that will change as the coleslaw mixture sits in the dressing.

      • 4

Refrigerate the coleslaw at least 2 hours before serving it.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Shake the lemon juice well before using. Unshaken lemon juice will change the taste of the slaw.
