How to Make a Cheese Grater Windchime

Wind chimes hang from the tops of porches or near the outsides of buildings. They make a pretty sound when the wind blows them. If you watch the wind chimes in action, you may also be able to determine what direction the wind is blowing. Wind chimes are made out of all types of things. You can even make your own wind chimes out of a cheese grater and a few pieces of silverware.

Instructions

    • 1

Thread a piece of string about 2 inches long through one of the holes in the bottom of a cheese grater. Knot the end attached to the cheese grater so the string is secure.

Notice the holes around the bottom of the cheese grater. ThiYou will need to hang one piece of silverware from each hole. It doesn't matter if you are using spoons, forks, knives, or a combination of the three.

    • 2

Attach a piece of silverware to the other end of the string.

    • 3

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until you have string and silverware tied to each hole at the bottom of the cheese grater.

    • 4

Tie a piece of string to the center handle of the cheese grater. Let the string hang down inside the center of the cheese grater.

    • 5

Tie the lose end of the center string to the handle of a soup ladle so that the soup ladle hangs in between the silverware.

    • 6

Hang your cheese grater wind chime from a tree branch of a hook on your porch, and listen to the sounds of the silverware and soup ladle clanging together when the wind blows.
