How to Ship a Rear Differential
The rear differential is a part in your car that transfers power from the driveshaft, which is connected to the transmission, to the rear axles. A rear differential is only present in rear wheel drive and four wheel drive autos. These components are really tough and do not break easily; rear differentials transfer a couple of hundred horsepower from your engine to your rear wheels every time you ride in your car.

1
Buy a durable cardboard box, as rear differentials are build out of solid metal, and are heavy.
-
2
Fill the cardboard box with packing peanuts until it is half full.
-
-
3
Place the rear differential right into the middle of the box; make sure the rear differential is far enough from the edges of the box to prevent damage if it would be dropped.
-
4
Fill the other half of the box with packing peanuts; to be safe, overfill the box with packing peanuts so the inside of the box is "compressed," preventing any movement.
-
5
Close the box and wrap it with lots of masking tape. Do not use duct tape if you are sending the box though the USPS (United States Postal Service) as they do not accept packages wrapped in duct tape.
-
6
Go to the carrier of your choice (DHL, UPS, USPS, Fedex) and send the package. The price to send a rear differential will be high because its weight is considerable.
