How to Make a Homemade Halloween Zebra

You can make a homemade zebra Halloween costume with household materials and inexpensive craft supplies. You'll have to decide whether you want your zebra to have black stripes over white fur or white stripes over black fur. Then use black or white sweatpants and a black or white hooded sweatshirt as a base for the costume. You won't have to cut or damage the sweatpants or sweatshirt at all to make the zebra costume, so you can continue to wear the clothes after Halloween.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut long strips of white or black duct tape to use as stripes. Taper the ends of the strips in a slightly irregular way to make them look more like animal stripes. You can decide how narrow or wide you want the stripes to be.

    • 2

Attach the duct tape stripes to contrasting sweatpants and hooded sweatshirt.

    • 3

Cut out two ear shapes from craft foam or felt, and use duct tape to attach them to the hood of the sweatshirt.

    • 4

Cut 10 to 20 narrow strips of black and white felt or craft foam to use as the zebra's mane. Use duct tape to attach the strips to the hooded sweatshirt. Begin attaching them to the top of the hood and in a line down to the bottom of the neck.

    • 5

Use black and white face paint or makeup to paint zebra stripes on your face, and complete the costume with black and white sneakers or canvas shoes.
