How to Delete Windows History Files
If you want to ensure that no one can trace your computer usage through history files, you must undergo a history deletion process. This is especially handy if you share a computer with others. The option to delete history files is available within Windows itself or you can choose to use an external cleaning program, which are available in both free and paid versions.

Click the "Start" button on the lower left corner of your computer screen.

Click the "Control Panel" icon in the menu that appears.

Double-click on the "Internet Options" icon under the "Control Panel" window. For some versions of Windows you must click on Switch to Classic View on the top right portion of the "Control Panel" window to get to the "Internet Options" icon.

Select the "General" tab in the "Internet Properties" box.

Click the "Delete" button under the "Browsing History" section.

Check all of the boxes in the "Delete Browsing History" dialog box, then click the "Delete" button.

Click "OK" to complete the process.

Download CCleaner from CCleaner.com and install it onto your computer by following the installation instructions provided with the download. This method will be similar with any cleaning software you choose; just make sure the software is from a reputable source. CCleaner offers a few more options than the standard Windows utility so you can customize which types of files you want to delete and which you want to keep.

Open CCleaner by clicking the program's desktop icon.

Click on the "Cleaner" icon (paint brush picture) on the top left side of the program screen.

Check all of the options that you want to delete in the "Windows" tab section, then click the "Analyze" button.

Click the "Run Cleaner" button, and then click "OK" to proceed. CCleaner will delete your history files.
