How to Correct a Phone Directory Error

Telephone directory errors are fairly common and extremely simple to fix. A phone directory correction can be made very quickly and results can be seen in usually a few business days. Procedure for correcting errors may differ slightly according to the state in which you live.

Instructions

1. On the Internet, look up your state's telephone directory representatives. A simple Google search of the keywords "(your state) telephone directory coordinators" should bring up a list of the agency representatives.

2. Select your corresponding representative and send the necessary corrections to that agent by either email or regular mail. Double check to make sure all changes are correct before sending.

3. If you cannot contact a directory coordinator or do not know which one corresponds to your region, send a general email asking for a referral to an agent for your region--or contact your state's division of telecommunications.
