How to Hang Lantern Votive Candles
Whether you hang just one or a group, lantern votive candles add warmth and ambiance to an evening spent outdoors. Watch as dusk begins to flicker and your lanterns light up the night. Use several lanterns to create an outdoor chandelier, cluster these candle together for a warm glow and bright light. Set them along a driveway or front path to welcome guest in and out. Things You'll Need
- Copper wire
- Wire cutters or scissors
- Needle-nose pliers
- Garden gloves
- Chain
- S hooks
- Votive candles
- Glass candle lanterns or jars

Cut a 24- to 30-inch piece of thin copper wire and wrap it around the lip of each lantern, where the grooves are located. Use the grooves of the lantern to guide the wire around. Wrap around several times for a snug fit.

Create a u-shape with another piece of wire. A 10- to 12-inch piece is sufficient to form the handle for the lantern. Depending on the diameter of your lantern, you may want to double this piece before creating the "u."

Attach the u-shape wire to the first wire by hooking the piece of the handle's wire under the grooves on either side of the lantern. This handle will allow you to hang the lantern.

Twist the ends of the handle into the wire (Use the needle-nose pliers if necessary) and turn into the lantern to prevent cuts. Cut off any extra pieces of wire with wire cutters or sturdy scissors.

Hang chains at various heights in the branches of your favorite shade tree. Attach an s-hook at the ends of each chain. Use the handle of the lantern to hook the lantern over the s-hook on the chain for a lovely dangling effect.
