Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum your porcelain tile to remove dust. A buildup of dust will make the grout in between the tiles dull.

    • 2

Mix a solution of warm water and a mild dish soap detergent. Scrub a wall with a clean cotton cloth, or a soft brush dipped into the solution. Scrub the wall with a circular motion. Scrub a porcelain tile floor with a mop dipped in the solution. Mix a new solution of detergent and warm water whenever the old one becomes dirty.

    • 3

Dry your tiles with another cotton cloth. Look for water spots on the tiles as they dry. Wipe away the water spots immediately with a cloth. Check to see how your tile looks.

    • 4

Spray on a soap scum-removing product, if your tile still has a film on it. Rinse the tile and then dry it with a cloth.

    • 5

Mix a solution of 3 cups of white vinegar and 1 cup of water, if you are still not satisfied with the appearance of your tile. White vinegar is a stronger cleaner than dish soap. Scrub the tile with a soft brush or cloth dipped into the solution. Rinse the tile with clear water. Dry the tile with a cloth.

    • 6

Buff your tile with a lint-free cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also try cleaning the tile with a glass cleaner.

  • Constantly rinse away and replace any dirty water. If you are cleaning a tiled wall, start at the top and work your way downward. Never use steel wool to scrub the tile. Steel wool can scratch the finish. Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, or cleaners that include bleach. These cleaners can change the color of the grout in your tile.
