1
Determine which Mac OS X operating system certification you would like to take by visiting the Apple Mac OS X Certification website (see the Resources section) to read and research the details of each of the available certification paths. Take your time making your decision. Apple offers four different Mac OS X certification levels: Beginning, for Apple Certified Support Professionals; Intermediate, for Apple Certified Technical Coordinators; Advanced/Specialized, for Apple Certified Specialists; and Advanced, for Apple Certified System Administrators.

2
Determine how much your Mac OS X certification path will cost by visiting the Apple Mac OS X Certification website to analyze which courses you will need to take for your desired certification. Then, visit the Apple Training Locations website (see the Resources section) to choose a training center in your area, which will list how much the courses cost. The Apple Certified Support Professional path, for example, requires that you take the Snow 101 course, which costs on average $1,500 at various training centers across the country.

Set up your training schedule at an Apple-authorized training center. Visit the Apple Training Locations website and type the name of your city in the search field at the top of the page. You may find that your city doesn't have an Apple training center, so you will have to factor in such things as travel costs, your available time and where you will stay during your training period.

4
Attend the training for your certification path at the training center you have chosen. If you choose a path such as Apple Certified Support Professional, you will have to set aside two days to take the Snow 101 course. Once you have completed the course, you will be given an exam called the Mac OS X Support Essentials 10.6 Exam. Once you pass this exam, you will given a physical certificate for your certification path, and log-in information for the Apple Certification Records System, where you can manage an online version of your certificate in various ways, such as downloading your certification logo and displaying your certificate on the Apple Certified Professionals Registry.
Visit the Apple Certification Records System website (see the Resources section) to get an idea of what the records systems has to offer.
