With the advent of the iPhone, developers are becoming more interested in creating mobile applications to market on iTunes. Consequently, developing tools for Apple computers has also gained momentum. In order to download the Apple Software Development Kit to develop software for the iPhone or the Mac, you must first register as a developer with Apple. It only takes a few clicks to start your journey to becoming an Apple developer.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet browser
  • Launch your favorite Internet browser and go to developer.apple.com. This is the official homepage of the Apple Developer Connection where you can find resources you need to create applications for the iPhone or Mac platform.

  • Choose the Mac Developer and then click "Learn More," which will take you to the membership page that shows different fee structures depending on which tools you want to use and what kind of applications you want to develop. Choose the ADC Online Membership, which is free, then click "Join Now."

  • Complete the registration form with the required information and agree to the terms and conditions. Then click "Continue."

  • Choose any ADC Products you want to learn more about or download the tools you need to create your application. You are now an official Apple developer and have access to all the tools needed to create your first program.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you already have an Apple ID, you don’t need to complete the entire form on Step 3. Instead, skip directly to the part where you need to enter your Apple ID and you will be redirected to Step 4.
  • Apple has the right to terminate your membership if you fail to follow the agreed terms and conditions, so use your developer status wisely.
