How to Disable APM in Windows XP Home Edition

Windows XP has an advanced power management feature that allows you to easily configure the power settings of your Windows XP-based computer. APM has five different power states that you can use: ready, stand-by, suspended, hibernation and off. Your computer must be APM 1.2-compliant for you to use APM. In addition, Windows XP does not install APM support on a multiprocessor system.
