Instructions

    • 1

Apply medium or lightest color all over lid with the eyeshadow brush. Cover the area from the inner eye to the end of the lash line and brow.

    • 2

Apply the second darkest color along the eye lid with the eyebrow brush. If your eyes are closer together, concentrate the color towards the outer half of the lid, to create the illusion of more distance. If eyes are far apart, concentrate darker color towards the center.

    • 3

Apply the darkest color to the outer third of the the eye using the contour brush with a fine tip. Use rounded strokes following the eyes natural curve when closed. At the eye's corner, use upward strokes to create lift.

    • 4

Remove any dark shadow that has fallen around the eye with a cotton ball or swab. Gently dust the specks of pigment away with light strokes.

    • 5

Apply the lightest and brightest color to the upper brow, underneath the eyebrow arch with the regular eyeshadow brush, to highlight the brow bone.

    • 6

Blend the three or four colors used together with a cotton ball or an eyeshadow brush. Remove all defined lines so that colors blend into one another while still providing the illusion of depth.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may use less than three colors to create a 'smokey' eye effect, by using the two darkest tones around the eyes in concentrated color.

  • Colors do not need to be monotone. They can be complimentary and still achieve the same contouring affect.

  • Close eyes when applying eyeshadow. Some brands have more pigments than others and may contain particles that can irritate the eyes.
