How to Crosscut Clear, Corrugated Sheets of Fiberglass
Corrugated fiberglass panels or sheets are generally used for roofing purposes and are very durable. Each sheet is constructed with layers of reinforced fiberglass mat that's saturated with catalyzed resin. The resin will harden and form a solid sheet of fiberglass. Corrugated sheets are usually fairly thin and easy to cut down if needed. When crosscutting sheets of corrugated fiberglass, you have to do it freehand, using a saw rather than using a table saw like when crosscutting wood. - Corrugated fiberglass sheet
- Tape measure
- Sharpie marker
- Chalk line
- Safety glasses
- Respirator
- Right-angle grinder
- Diamond-edge blade
- 100-grit sandpaper

Lay the sheet of fiberglass down flat on the floor. Measure from the top left corner of the sheet out to the length you need and make a mark with a Sharpie marker on the face of the sheet. Measure from the bottom left corner out to the same length and make another mark.

Connect the two marks by snapping a chalk line from one to the other. Trace the chalk line with the Sharpie marker to avoid losing the line when you're cutting.

Lift the sheet off the ground by sliding two-by-fours under it to leave room for the saw blade.

Put on safety glasses and a respirator and cut directly on the line, using a right-angle grinder with a diamond-edge blade. Hold the blade straight up and down and cut slowly, concentrating on the line the entire time. Thin fiberglass cuts like butter with a diamond blade, which can make it very easy to go off the line.

Sand the cut edge of the sheet with 100-grit sandpaper to smooth it out.
