How to Remove Flash Player From Internet Explorer


The Adobe Flash Player is the default player that enables you to play back videos, animations and Flash movies on the Internet. If the Flash Player you are using is damaged, corrupt and causing errors when you attempt to play videos, you can uninstall it from your Internet Explorer browser using some simple steps.


  • Click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel."

  • Launch the programs list by clicking "Programs" and clicking "Programs and Features" if you are using Windows Vista or 7. For Windows XP users, launch the programs list by double-clicking "Add or Remove Programs."

  • Click the Adobe Flash Player version you are using and click "Remove/Uninstall." When prompted, click "Yes" to confirm and uninstall the application. When prompted, restart Internet Explorer.

  • Alternatively, go to the Adobe Flash Player uninstall page and click "uninstall_flash_player.exe" next to "Windows." When prompted, click "Save" and download the uninstall tool to your desktop. Double-click the uninstall tool and click "Run" to run the uninstaller.

Mac OS X

  • Go to the Adobe Flash Player uninstall page and click the "uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg" file under the Mac OS X version you are using (see Resources).

  • Click "Save" and download the Adobe Flash Player uninstall tool on your desktop.

  • Quit all running programs double-click the uninstall tool to run the uninstaller. When the process completes, the Flash Player is removed from your computer.
