How to Make an Epsom Salts Compress
Magnesium sulfate is often referred to as Epsom salt. Epsom salt is used as a health remedy for sprains and bruises. It can also be used to get splinters out, or to aid in the healing of an insect bite. Many people soak in a tub with Epsom salt, but it can also be used in a compress.

Pour the water into a bowl.

Add the Epsom salt and mix the two ingredients together. You want the Epsom salt to dissolve in the water.

Place a towel in the bowl and let it soak up the mixture.

Wring the towel out and place it over the bruise or insect bite.

Re-wet the compress every 10 minutes and reapply.

Tips & Warnings
You can also make a paste out of the Epsom salt and a little bit of water. Place the paste over your insect bite or bruise, and then cover it with a towel that has been soaked in hot water.
Seek medical attention from your doctor if your condition does not improve after using the Epsom salt for a few days.
