How to Repair & Paste a Laminate Floor
Laminate flooring is durable, cost effective and easy to install. The flooring comes in a variety of colors and finishes. Unfortunately, wear and tear over the years can damage floor boards, but scratches in laminate floors can be fixed with a repair kit of paste and matching color pigments. Applied with a putty knife, the scratch is virtually invisible. Damaged floor boards, though, need replacing. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Pry bar
- Screwdriver
- Replacement board
- Paste adhesive
- Concrete block or bricks

Pry up the molding closest to the damaged board with a pry bar or screwdriver. Be careful with the molding since you need to place it back down when finished.

Remove the laminate boards until you get to the damaged board, provided the damaged board is within two rows of the molding. A damaged piece in the center of the floor or farther from the molding will need to be cut and replaced by a professional. Remove the damaged board.

Brush paste adhesive on the entire back of the replacement board. Snap the replacement board into the vacated slot. Lay a heavy object such as a concrete block or bricks on the replacement board. Wait 24 hours to give the adhesive time to set.

Replace laminate boards in the order they were removed, then reinstall the molding.

Tips & Warnings
Apply felt tips to furniture legs to avoid denting laminate flooring. Lay rugs on flooring to minimize damage.
